A real Jewellery or Silver valuer really works at his or her art.
This is why a Registered Valuer is so highly regarded in the trade.
A Jeweller can only become Registered through the prestigious
National Association of Goldsmiths

They must be mature and have at least 5 years in the trade, 3 of which must be actually working on Valuations, they must then attend an intensive training seminar, then submit samples of work to a committee, that committee then submits its recommendation to the board of the NAG and also submits the name of the prospective Valuer to all the members for comments or objections.

Each year thereafter the Valuer has to submit an application to be re Registered, it is an honour and a privilege to be part of such a group, not a right.

Our Charges for Valuations 2008
First Item £40.00
Each Additional Item £20.00

Please Note, All Valuers have the right to charge their own fees, some will use a percentage basis, some will charge by the hour and some charge per item. In relation to my fees, if you wish to negotiate the fee for large volume valuations, please contact me direct.

The NAG Registered Valuers meet once a year at a conference where ideas and information are exchanged.

This year, 2007 is the 20th Anniversary of the founding of the NAG Registered Valuers Group and there is no longer any excuse for a professional jeweller to produce the one liners of old. All NAG members can access a Trade Registered Valuer and many Jewellers employ Registered Valuers of their own. There is a NAG Registered Valuers e mail forum where any queries and problems can be discussed and assisted with

The one thing a Registered Valuer will admit is that he or she does not know it all. We query each other all the time, each of us is an individual and has some unique information to bring to the group.

At the conference we attend hands on workshops, full lectures and hold one to one meetings. This is where experts in different fields share our problems and our successes. My own specialist field of expertise, for example is antique silver however I would be the first to agree that my knowledge is not complete and I tend to gravitate to the other experts in the area and each time we meet, I and the others add more to our fund of information.

This is an interesting piece I had the pleasure to handle

A beautiful silver Fox Head Stirrup Cup, early 19th Century in excellent condition.

I am happy to offer my services if you have such pieces and will always discuss with you any queries you may have.
